Open Day

Quadrant Chambers Open Day: 8th December 2010

Quadrant Chambers holds an Open Day in December each year, designed for those in the second year of their law degree or above.  The Open Day provides those interested in pursuing a career at the Commercial Bar the opportunity to meet Members of Chambers, learn about life as a barrister and see how Chambers operates.  During the day, Members of Chambers will give talks on topics such as life as a commercial barrister and will hold workshops on advocacy.

The first pupillage Open Day held on 5th December 2007 was attended by over 40 students and was a great success. Attendees had a chance to meet and chat with all Members of Chambers and heard talks on our principal areas of work, pupillage procedures, life as a junior tenant and advocacy skills and techniques.

According to those who attended:

"It was certainly a refreshing change to meet such an approachable and welcoming set of barristers, who obviously take great pride in their practice and its future development"

"...and after that superb lunch, Godot actually arrived. The advocacy class was the personal highlight, and Mr Haddon-Cave QC gave some excellent comments in answer to my questions about arbitration."

"I hope for the benefit of future applicants that Chambers will repeat the event."

"The open day was a very positive experience for me. Not only did I enjoy myself, but I found all of the talks useful and informative I also think we got a good idea of the general atmosphere within Chambers; which, for me, was relaxed and professional."

Places are limited and will be awarded on a first come first served basis to those who are in the second year or above of university and who are seriously interested in joining a commercial set.  Applications should be made by CV and covering letter by 26th November 2010 to:
