Apply for pupillage

Quadrant Chambers is not a member of OLPAS and therefore has its own system of applications. Applications are made via our online application form or by post on the hard copy application form.

Application process

THE APPLICATION PROCESS FOR PUPILLAGE COMMENCING OCTOBER 2011 IS NOW CLOSED

THE APPLICATION PROCESS FOR PUPILLAGE COMMENCING OCTOBER 2012 OPENS ON MONDAY 29TH NOVEMBER 2010

Quadrant Chambers has a three stage application process:

Stage one

At the first stage applicants are asked to complete and return our application form.  As well as looking for strong academic qualifications and extra-curricular activities such as mooting, we also judge an applicant’s motivation to be a commercial barrister and to succeed at the Bar.

Stage two

If you successfully pass Stage One you will be invited to complete a Test Set of papers and return them to Chambers to be marked. The test will involve writing an Opinion on a legal problem and is usually based on a case that a Member of Chambers has worked on.

The purpose of such an exercise is to test an applicant’s analysis and legal reasoning skills as well as the ability to write in a clear, concise and appropriate manner.

Stage three

Those whose Test Sets are judged to be of an appropriate standard will be invited to an interview before a panel of several Members of Chambers.  The interview will test the ability of the applicant to think on their feet, engage in legal analysis and exhibit effective and persuasive advocacy.

Application timetable

Applications for pupillage commencing in October 2012 will be accepted from Monday 29th November 2010. The closing date for applications is 10th February 2011.

Applicants will be informed whether they have successfully passed Stage One on Wednesday 16th February 2011.

Test Sets will be sent to applicants on Friday 18th February 2011, and are to be returned by Wednesday 23rd February 2011.

Applicants will be informed whether they have been asked to attend an interview on Monday 28th Feburary 2011.

Interviews will be held on Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th March 2011, and offers will be made to successful candidates on Friday 11th March 2011.
