Aviation & Travel

Christopher regularly accepts instructions in relation to aviation and travel disputes. He frequently acts on behalf of major airlines, providing advice, drafting pleadings and representing these clients in the County Courts.

Christopher's experience relates to a broad range of issues from general contractual issues to specific issues arising under EC Regulation 261/2004 and the Montreal Convention.  In particular, recent cases have included respresenting major airlines in relation to claims made against them in respect of personal injury at airports, denied boarding, and cancellation of flights.

Banking & Finance

Christopher accepts instructions in this core area of Chambers' work.

 

Commercial Litigation

During pupillage, Christopher has gained experience of a wide range of commercial litigation including sale of goods and international trade disputes; negligence cases; disputes involving agency; injunctions; and jurisdictional disputes. Many of these cases involved international elements.

Dry Shipping, Commodities & Transport

Christopher has been involved in a number of dry shipping, commodities and transport disputes.

In particular, Christopher has experience of the following:

(1) Voyage and time charterparty disputes, including cases involving alleged unseaworthiness of vessels, unsafe berths/ports, damage to cargo, demurrage and off-hire clauses.

(2) Bills of lading disputes, including cases involving short-landings and damage to cargo.

(3) Carriage by road disputes, including disputes involving the CMR.

Energy, Shipbuilding & Construction

During pupillage, Christopher assisted in a number of shipbuilding cases and is particularly interested in this core area of Chambers' work.

Insurance & Reinsurance

Christopher is very interested in this core-area of Chambers' work.

During pupillage, Christopher gained a broad range of experience in this area. This includes: disputes concerning reinsurance (excess of loss and facultative), marine insurance, political risks insurance, business interruption insurance, fidelity insurance, and brokers' negligence claims.

International Arbitration

Christopher has experience of marine and non-marine arbitrations, of arbitration claims in the High Court under the Arbitration Act 1996, and of anti-suit injunctions.

 

Salvage, Collision & Admiralty

During pupillage, Christopher assisted in a number of cases involving the arrest of vessels.
