Giles Caldin
Called: 1974
Middle Temple
Since inception in 1977, his practice has been in commercial and otherwise business-oriented matters. He has practised almost exclusively in the Commercial Court and London arbitrations in both maritime and commodity matters; and he has sat as arbitrator in arbitrations held under LMAA Rules and otherwise.
His work has reflected all aspects of the international sale and carriage of goods and their consequential banking arrangements. This has included insurance in its business aspects; and that has included professional indemnity insurance, especially in the context of chartered accountancy.
His understanding of technical aspects of shipping disputes has been assisted by his service at sea.
He speaks French and has conducted conferences, litigation and arbitration in French both as counsel and as arbitrator.
