Marcus is a member of the CEDR UK mediator panel and a CMC Registered Mediator, specialising in commercial disputes, particularly in the insurance, shipping, energy, and logistics sectors. He spent over 30 years at leading international law firm HFW, latterly for four years as managing partner from April 2015. 

In Marcus’ 40 year career as a lawyer and solicitor, he was involved in a large variety of matters relating to all aspects of insurance, maritime and commercial disputes. Marcus started his career on the claims side in two P&I clubs and has had first-hand experience of marine insurance claims and the operation and management of P&I clubs.

Marcus is an associate member of Quadrant Chambers and a panel member at LCAM (London Chamber of Arbitration and Mediation). He has been actively mediating a wide range of maritime and commercial disputes since mid 2021 both in-person and on-line. Marcus writes and lectures on mediation.

Marcus was President of the UK Chamber of Shipping for the year 2014-15.
