Nigel Cooper QC appointed Deputy High Court Judge

OVERVIEW

Quadrant Chambers congratulates Nigel Cooper QC on his appointment as a Deputy High Court Judge following an open competition run by the Judicial Appointments Commission. The role of Deputy High Court Judge is reserved for those who have the experience and expertise to deal with cases which would otherwise be heard by a High Court Judge.
 
Nigel joins Simon Rainey QC, Lionel Persey QC and John Kimbell QC to become the fourth Deputy High Court judge at Quadrant.
 
His appointment commences on 1 October 2021 for a six-year term. He will sit in the High Court for up to 6 weeks a year and it anticipated that he will sit in the Queen’s Bench Division.
 
Nigel will continue to practice full time from Chambers as Counsel and to accept appointments as an arbitrator.
