
OVERVIEW
Quadrant Chambers is delighted to welcome Sam Mitchell as a new member of chambers. Sam joins us having successfully completed pupillage.
During his pupillage Sam's work included:
- Drafting opinions on the construction of clauses in time and voyage charterparties, including off-hire and redelivery provisions, laytime and demurrage clauses, terms on the payment/re-payment of bunkers, and the effect of the Hague / Hague-Visby Rules.
- Drafting pleadings in a variety of commercial contexts, including contractual disputes, civil fraud and misrepresentation, claims for unjust enrichment, the enforcement of charges, and debt claims.
- Assisting supervisors with questions involving cross-jurisdictional points, including the validity of foreign judgment debts, the applicability of foreign limitation periods to English proceedings, and the governing law in cases of extra-jurisdictional principal-agent relationships.
