Ben has a growing practice as an arbitrator in shipping, commodities and insurance disputes, complementing his practice as a leading junior in those fields.
As well as being a specialist in arbitration law, he has a commercial background having worked for many years in an international trading business alongside his practice at the bar. He offers a knowledgeable and fair approach, combined with the diligence and fast turn-around times expected of junior counsel.
Ben has received 80+ appointments since 2021 as sole arbitrator, as a party appointee and as third arbitrator. He has acted as arbitrator or counsel in proceedings under the rules of a number of different international organisations including the LMAA, the LCIA, the ICC, the PCA and the SIAC, and has appeared in leading English cases on arbitration law including CAFI v. GTCS [2025] EWHC 1350 (Comm) (concerning overlapping arbitration clauses) and Beijing Jianlong Heavy Industry Group v Golden Ocean Group Limited [2013] 2 Lloyd's Rep 61 (addressing the effect of illegality on an arbitration agreement).
He is a supporting member of the LMAA, on the SCMA Panel of Arbitrators and the SIAC List of Rising Arbitrators, and a member of the Baltic Exchange.
