Since taking silk in 2015 and a Deputy High Court Judge in 2018, John has begun to accept a range of commercial and maritime arbitration appointments. He has acted as an ad hoc, LMAA, DIS, LCIA and GMAA arbitrator. The range of disputes have included, unsafe port, shipbuilding, charterparty, off-hire and sale of goods matters as well as commercial aviation disputes. He is able to conduct arbitrations in English or German. He produces succinct awards and rulings quickly and fairly.
