GAR Live: Energy Disputes

Venue: CMS,

Edinburgh

OVERVIEW

Global Arbitration Review is pleased to announce the return of GAR Live: Energy Disputes in Edinburgh on the 22nd September. Nigel Cooper KC will be moderating the following session:

10:10-11:25     The year in review – a discussion
It is extraordinary how different the world feels in the space of …not even …12 months – especially around energy supplies. As Lenin is reputed to have said (possibly misattributed): “There are decades when nothing happens; and weeks when decades happen”. He might as well have had early 2022 in mind.

In this panel, leading names will give thoughts on the themes of the keynote and what they see as the ramifications for energy disputes and particularly energy-related international arbitration.

Topics the panel are expected to discuss include:
•    The Russian invasion of Ukraine – catastrophe or just the trigger that was needed regarding energy transition?
•    Living with sanctions, and the problems associated with some sanction’s regimes
•    Volatile oil & gas prices and their effect on energy agreements- long and short term- and disputes
•    Oil & gas disputes: noteworthy cases, trends and problems arising in these sectors.
