The panel at our international arbitration event discussed topical and practical issues under the heading: "Jurisdiction Issues in International Arbitration". 

The event was chaired by Simon Rainey QC and our distinguished panel of speakers included Sir David Steel, Louis Flannery of Stephenson Harwood and Philippa Charles of Stewarts Law. Topics under discussion :

• Institutional perspectives of jurisdiction challenges - in particular looking at Article 6 of the ICC Rules and the role of the ICC Court.
• "Deciding your own jurisdiction" i.e. looking at how, when sitting as an arbitrator, you go about deciding your own jurisdiction.
• s.67 - should the commercial court retain a role?
