OVERVIEW
Quadrant Chambers, together with Holland & Knight, will host an aviation insurance seminar focusing on the finance and leasing sector. The panel of speakers will include John Passmore QC, Matthew Reeve and Tim Marland of Quadrant Chambers, Robert Ricketts, Marc Antonecchia and Timothy Murray of Holland & Knight, and Andrew Bratby and Stephen Peak of Willis Towers Watson.
The panel will discuss current issues in the aviation insurance market and practical advice regarding aircraft repossessions, as well as war risks, forum shopping, crewing and maintenance. This program is designed for professionals in the legal and insurance departments of airlines and banks.
The first part of the seminar will focus on issues surrounding AVN 67B and the response of insurers. Robert Ricketts will discuss endorsement and its legal effects, as well as whether the current use of arbitration to hear coverage issues is the appropriate forum where clear guidance and judicial precedent is required. Tim Marland will discuss current gaps in coverage in connection with war risks insurance, particularly confiscation or impounding by state and judicial authorities. He will be followed by Andrew Bratby and Steve Peak, who will address these issues from the London insurance market perspective.
The second part of the seminar will concentrate on repossession. Timothy Murray will discuss current documentation requirements, repudiations of contracts, due diligence and various dispute prevention mechanisms. Matthew Reeve and Marc Antonecchia will look at repossession from the United Kingdom and United States standpoints, respectively. John Passmore will discuss legal questions regarding engines that are off-wing, both on total loss of the airframe and on repossession.
The event will be held at 2pm on Wednesday 4 October 2017, at Quadrant Chambers, Quadrant House, 10 Fleet Street, London EC4Y 1AU. The Seminar is expected to finished at 6pm and will be followed by a drinks reception.
