Junior Seminar: Loss, Actually: Interpreting clauses which exclude consequential loss and loss of profit following EE v Virgin

Time: 08:45 AM - 10:45 AM
Venue: Quadrant Chambers, 10 Fleet Street, Temple, London EC4Y 1AU

OVERVIEW

On 1 October 2026, we will be holding a Junior Breakfast Seminar discussing the effect of clauses seeking to exclude liability for consequential losses and/or loss of profit. Ben Gardner & Jakob Reckhenrich will consider the underlying legal principles, how they have been applied and recent trends and developments, including the important recent Court of Appeal judgment in EE v Virgin [2025] EWCA Civ 70. They will also consider how this decision might be applied (or ignored) in the commodities and shipping context.

This series is aimed at junior (under partner level) practitioners. It is a good opportunity to gain some knowledge and to meet and network with your peers.
