Practice Overview

Brandon Malone has nearly 30 years’ experience in commercial dispute resolution as arbitrator and counsel.  He is a barrister (Inner Temple)  and also has rights of audience before the higher civil courts in Scotland as a Scottish solicitor advocate, and before the DIFC Courts, Dubai, UAE.

His areas of specialisation include construction, engineering, infrastructure, and energy, including oil and gas and renewables, and international trade law.

Brandon is a panel arbitrator with various international arbitration institutions including AAA/ICDR, New York, SIAC, Singapore, DIAC, Dubai, CIETAC, Beijing, AIAC, Kuala Lumpur, SCCA, Ridyadh, RSPP, Moscow, EDAC, Ankara and BCDR-AAA, Bahrain. In 2021 Brandon joined the FIDIC President’s List of Approved Dispute Adjudicators.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR. He is an Honorary Lecturer at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee.

Brandon was the architect of the Scottish Arbitration Centre and has served as its Chairman since its inception in 2011.  He is a Co-Director of the International Centre for Energy Arbitration.

Brandon chairs the ICCA/NYC Bar/CPR Working Group on Cybersecurity in International Arbitration, and is the Congress Chair for the XXVth ICCA Congress to be held in Edinburgh in September 2022.
