Practice Overview

Brandon Malone has 30 years’ experience in commercial dispute resolution as arbitrator and counsel.  He is a barrister (Inner Temple)  and a Scottish advocate. He also has rights of audience before the DIFC Courts, Dubai, UAE.

His areas of specialisation include construction, engineering, infrastructure, and energy, including oil and gas and renewables, blockchain and cryptocurrencies, and international trade law.

Brandon is a panel arbitrator with various international arbitration institutions including AAA/ICDR, New York, SIAC, Singapore, DIAC, Dubai, CIETAC, Beijing, AIAC, Kuala Lumpur, SCCA, Ridyadh, RSPP, Moscow, EDAC, Ankara and BCDR-AAA, Bahrain. In 2021 Brandon joined the FIDIC President’s List of Approved Dispute Adjudicators. In 2022 he was admitted to the Shanghai Arbitration Commission panel. 

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR. He is an Honorary Lecturer at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee.

Brandon was the architect of the Scottish Arbitration Centre and served as its Chairman from its inception in 2011 until 2022.  He is a Co-Director of the International Centre for Energy Arbitration.

Brandon chairs the ICCA/NYC Bar/CPR Working Group on Cybersecurity in International Arbitration, and was the Congress Chair for the hugely successful XXVth ICCA Congress held in Edinburgh in September 2022.
